Linda Betsinger McCann is the author of eight books published by Iowan Books. Prohibition in Eastern Iowa was a finalist for the Shambaugh prize for non-fiction in Iowa last year. She enjoys Iowa history and wants to preserve it for her grandchildren. She is currently researching the CCC camps in eastern Iowa for another book. Prohibition affected Iowa just as it did any other place in the nation. There were murders in Iowa; Al Capone spent time in Iowa; and the local farmers turned to making moonshine in order to support their families. Linda was able to speak with the sons and daughters of the moonshiners and bootleggers and heard their stories. She will be sharing information on the local area also.
